About Ronald McDonald House Grants
The fall of 1996 brought significant change to the Ronald McDonald House when it merged with Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities to form the current Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Colorado. Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities was a charity developed through McDonald’s Corporation to raise money and support local charities that assisted children and families. The merger of the Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities allowed for combined administration, staff support and reduced operating costs, and allowed the Ronald McDonald House to go “beyond our walls” to touch the lives of children and families in need throughout Southern Colorado. Since it’s inception in 1996 we have awarded approximately $600,000 in local funds as well as $117,000 in matching funds from RMHC National to various children’s organizations throughout Southern Colorado, including the Boys and Girls Club of the Lower Arkansas Valley, CASA, Pikes Peak Therapeutic Riding Center, Children’s Literacy Center, and Zach’s Place. Our Ronald McDonald House Charities chapter enjoys a strong relationship with the local McDonald’s Restaurant owner-operators, who are very involved in our fundraising activities for the House and Grants program. Such activities include the Cameron Memorial Golf Tournament, the Valentine’s Day “Give a Little Love” campaign, and the World Children’s Day annual event. The restaurants display merchandiser and brochures of Ronald McDonald House Charities, as well as canisters which support the operations of the entire Charity. With the financial help of McDonald’s Corporation and franchisees, our ever-loyal individual donors, and an extremely dedicated Board of Directors, RMHC of Southern Colorado remains true to is focus of: lifting children and families to a better tomorrow. |
